A month old calf helps Holme Valley Mountain Rescue

He might only be 4 weeks old but a Holmfirth calf is already proving his worth and raising money for a local charity. Rufus, a highland bull, was born at here Totties Garden Centre on 1st February. His mother Morag arrived in October last year and it was suspected she was pregnant. It took 4 months for those suspicions to be confirmed. New Addition

We got a new addition to our animal family...Morag the Highland cow has come to join the sheep, hens and ducks. She's spending her days in our bottom field & if you look carefully whilst you shop in the garden centre or have lunch in the cafe, you'll spot her. She pretty shy but Rob & Oli are working hard to make her feel at home & get her used to human contact. Gardening Competition Winner

And the winner is...Amanda Beaumont. Earlier this year we launch our very own gardening competition where we asked customers to send us a picture of their colourful spring garden. The prize was £50 worth of vouchers to spend here at Totties Garden Centre. National Children’s Gardening Week

For the first time we got involved in National Children's Gardening Week. Thanks to our supplier Kings Seeds we held a free seed giveaway and also handed out pots for planting. The focus of the week was to bring children into gardening and gardening to children. Children love growing plants, they love being in the garden but they can be impatient growers, wanting to see instant results. Holmfirth garden centre & church join forces…

Staff & customers from Totties Garden Centre spent the month of December raising money for Action for Children. Donation buckets were dotted around the garden centre, cafe & winter wonderland grotto. Rather than charging an entrance fee to see Santa, visitors were simply asked to help raise money for the charity. Also as part of the fundraising efforts members of Scholes Methodist Choir spent two consecutive Sundays entertaining diners with Christmas carols. Sunflower Competition Winner

It’s the year of the sunflower and to celebrate this here at Totties Garden Centre we decided to run a competition which ran all summer long. The rules were simple: Come and help yourself to seeds, compost and a pot. Plant your seed, water it regularly and pot it on when it starts to grow. Children and staff from Scholes Pavilion Pre School came to visit us here at Totties Garden Centre. They collected sunflower seeds & compost to grow their own flowers & see if their's would win our latest competition. Seeds donated to Scholes School

Children at Scholes Junior and Infant School in Holmfirth are planting hundreds of seeds over the coming weeks thanks to Totties Garden Centre. In conjunction with Kings Seeds Totties has donated the fruit and vegetable seeds so the youngsters can continue to learn about planting, nurturing and harvesting their crops. The learning doesn’t stop there, the teachers are making sure every aspect of the curriculum is being applied and have devised lessons in maths, science and sustainability to fit in around the growing season.
